A dazzling new light-catching stainless steel sculpture titled “Sarasota Deco” is gracing Sarasota’s downtown. The sculpture, created by sculptor Rob Lorenson, stands 16 feet x 16 feet x 4 feet.

“Our gift to the city will be the new meeting place in the heart of downtown. The sculpture importantly underscores and reinforces Sarasota’s moniker as the art and culture destination of Florida’s Gold Coast.” said John Vetri, regional manager for Five Points Sarasota Investors, and Ersa Grae, develop for The Plaza at Five Points, in a statement.

The sculpture “Sarasota Deco” took more than three years to complete — from design through unanimous approval of the City Arts Committee and the help of various city departments.

The sculptor, Rob Lorenson, was a popular exhibitor in the 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Bayfront “Sarasota Season of Sculpture” exhibition. His work is represented in both private and corporate collections nationally.
