Big headlines in this week’s Sarasota Herald Tribune… Will The Concession be hosting the Solheim Cup golf tournament in 2017 ? It would appear that this awesome local course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin, is one of two finalists for the honor. Named “Best New Private Course in 2006” by Golf Digest, this would be an ideal test for the female equivalent of the PGA’s Rider Cup.
Putting 120,000 or so well healed spectators in our area’s hotels and restaurants would be a huge shot of adrenaline into our local real estate market. Not to mention the millions of TV viewers who would witness our beautiful weather and area from The Golf Channel’s local coverage.
The course layout is so expansive, that I don’t recall seeing any homes while playing the course. And that’s impressive as homes are generally estate sized on huge lots. Plenty of prime lots and million dollar plus homes remain available in the community. The Concession certainly felt the real estate downturn of 2006/2007 and properties can now be obtained for a fraction of their initial asking prices.
