Way back on May 2 I threatened to go see these three courses…Calusa Lakes Golf Club in Nokomis, Waterford Golf Club in Venice and The Golf Club at Capri Isles in Venice…and I finally did so this week. All owned by the same consortium…if you join one you have year round playing priviledges at all three….for $2,247 incl. tax annually per Shannon Buckley the business development manager at Waterford.
Although I have yet to play them, I did take a good look around all three clubhouses and facilities. Let’s be honest here…these are straightforward clubs…modest practice facilities and locker rooms…but for the avid golfer, what a deal. Waterford has 27 holes and looks wonderfully kept. Capri Isles is an 18 holer just down the road and offers rolling fairways and undulating greens. Calusa Lakes sits right next to the private Mission Valley Golf Club in Nokomis.
And if that wasn’t enough value for you, consider this. For the price of just a golf cart, joining one of these three also allows you summer reciprocal play at 8 other local courses including Bent Tree Country Club, Pelican Pointe and Heron Creek Golf & Country Club.
I use to think that The Meadows in Sarasota with its 3 courses and reciprocals offered the best golf value in the area. I may now have to reconsider.
