Downtown Sarasota offers everything that larger cities boast….exceptional restaurant’s, eclectic shopping, spas and salons, and galleries galore. Add to that an opera house and a symphony at the Van Wezel Centre for the Performing Arts and you”ve got it all….including golf. Including golf ? Sure…because there are easily a half dozen exceptional private courses within an easy 10 to 25 minute drive from the top of Main Street. And we are talking a beautiful and sunny “top down” kind of drive.
Sara Bay ( a storied Donald Ross design ) is less than 10 minutes north of the downtown core. The Longboat Key Club is even closer. The Oaks Club is 22 minutes from downtown…I should know as I always have time for a few practice swings, even when I leave my downtown home at 8 am for an 8:30 shotgun. TPC Prestancia is 20 minutes. Throw in Laurel Oak, Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and even The Founders Club… all less than a 25 minute drive door to door.
The downtown values in condo’s are simply amazing. My wife Maureen ( “Mo knows condos” ) has four listings in Rivo ranging from $397,000 for a 2/2 plus den to just under $1 million for a huge 3/3 with stunning downtown and water views. Condo’s such as 100 Central, Plaza at Five Points and 1350 Main are selling units at levels far below there initial offering price.
And let’s not forget the beach…Maureen and I can spot a beautiful sunset in the making and be parked on Lido Beach within 10 minutes…door to door. So you really can be a serious golfer with a downtown address.
