Played in the 5th Annual Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation golf tournament on Saturday. The Foundation is the Nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military families. No, I’m not a veteran but my playing partners Tom, Ted and Bob were. Fantastic cause and a terrific time had by all. Laurel Oak consists of two Gary Player designed 18’s in a gated community approximately one mile East of I75 off of Bee Ridge Road.
It is my understanding that the golf club has finally changed it’s internal rules for departing members. Previously, there was a storm of controversy in that those members who sold their homes and moved on still had to pay their monthly dues until their equity was refunded. In the downturn, this process could take years. Now that this issue has been corrected, Laurel Oak should again emerge as one of Sarasota’s most desirable golf course communities.
