Home prices in Sarasota and Manatee County climbed 8.5% over the year…outperforming both the state and the nation during that 12 month period. CoreLogic claims the US average was 6.4% for that same time period. Despite the gain, local home prices remain some 33% off of their peak price, reached back in 2005-2006. CoreLogic then goes on to say they predict appreciation will cool off in the months to come…to 5.2% for the next year. “Continued moderation of home price appreciation is a welcome sign of more balanced real estate markets and less pressure on affordability for potential home buyers in the near future” said mark Fleming, chief economist at CoreLogic.
