OAKS GOLF 5 300x200 photo     When we think of  Sarasota golf communities we sometimes forget that there are other fantastic options just outside the gates of some of our premier golf courses communities.  The Oaks Golf and Country Club for example is a wonderful place to live and enjoy the Country Club lifestyle however membership is mandatory { equity approx. $65,000 } and isn’t for everyone. As an associate member you enjoy everything the club offers with out the big initiation fee. And you can choose where you call home.

Less than 2 miles away is the gated neighborhood of Silver Oak located in Palmer Ranch.   The 230 acre community offers lake and preserve views and homes were built between 2000 – 2005.  It has become very popular with Oaks associate members looking for newer luxury homes.

One exquisite example in Silver Oak is builder Todd Johnston’s Providence 11. This luxury 4700 sq ft home was the overall winner in 2004′s Parade of Homes.  It is currently on the market for sale.

The Meadows Country Club

the meadows 300x225 photoI have received the 2013 membership rates for The Meadows Country Club. Let me just say, there may be no more affordable club with this caliber of course and amenities, in all of Sarasota. They have simply stretched the affordability of private club golf in our area.

There are actually six membership types…Traditional, Flexible, International, Intermediate, Young Professional and Seasonal. The main theme running throughout each offering , is that if you commit to a one or two year term, your up front initiation fee will be waived…a savings of anywhere from $1,500 to $3000. There are too many nuances to go over, but rest assured that one can get full golfing privileges with advanced t-times on any of their 3 courses for under $400 per month…and in some cases for as little as $130 per month for Young Professionals. Rosedale adds a New Subdivision

photo clubhouseRosedale photoRosedale Golf & Country Club is expanding. This gated, semi-private golf course community just off SR70 will see it’s first new homes section since its inception in 1994. Three builders ( Ashton Woods Homes, John Cannon Homes & M/I Homes ) will begin construction this year on 445 new homes on 237 acres. This will bring the Rosedale community from its present tally of 652 homes to over 1,100. Current home prices in the community range from $249,000 to $668,000.

Rosedale is an interesting 18 hole course designed by Ted McAnlis. There are no current plans to add any additional nine’s. Any new home owner is not currently obligated to join the club, but this new section will require at least a social membership. In addition to the golf and its 22,000 square foot clubhouse, the community boasts 5 Har-Tru tennis courts, Bocci courts, a fitness center and a heated outdoor Junior Olympic sized swimming pool.

Pope Golf Making a True Impact on Sarasota Golf Scene

golfBirds photoSlowly but surely, Pope Golf has made huge inroads to our local Sarasota golf scene. In October of 2012 they added River Wilderness to their stable of courses that they manage. This allowed them to make the following current offer for 2013 : For just $300 per month ( with no money down ) one can now have access to three darn good semi-private courses…Bent Tree, Misty Creek and River Wilderness. ( I have blogged about all 3 of these courses in the past ). The newest rumour is that Serenoa will be their next conquest. Should they add that as the fourth club, this offer would be a no brainer.

These moves are in addition to some other local notable takeovers. Greenfield Plantation was purchased late last year for the modest sum of $850,000 by a company managed by Anthony Soletti out of Tampa Bay. Back in May of 2012, Neal Communities ( the local home builder ) purchased Boca Royale Golf & Country Club in Englewood in addition to 500 home sights. Let’s see what offers are in store for local players in 2013 at these clubs.

Laurel Oak Country Club 2012 Membership Plans

Made another visit to this excellent Gary Player design off Bee Ridge, east of I75.
Full golf and tennis memberships are now available for $8000 OR 3 payments of $3000 over 2 years. Monthly dues for a single golfer are $565 or $750 for a full family. There are additional memberships ( social, tennis etc. ) but why join if you don’t golf !? By the way, walking is allowed. E-mail me for more information.

TPC Prestancia Offering New Membership Rates

Heritage Golf Group, the owners of the 36 hole Prestancia golf club, have redesigned their membership program to suit the times. In other words, more affordable. There are too many membership options to go into detail here, but the most likely membership for a local Sarasota golfer would be the unlimited membership for $15,000 plus monthly dues. This allows you to play both the Stadium and Club courses, plus local reciprocals in the summer months, plus access to all the Heritage Golf properties around the country.

Sarasota Summer Golf Memberships are Back !

Here’s a look at a few sarasota summer golf memberships. University Park Country Club offers all you can play right up to October 31 for only $500 plus tax plus cart fees. The Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice allows full golfing priviledges until September 30 for $535 including tax. Sara Bay Country Club is $639 ( including taxes ) right up to October 31. The Meadows is the most aggressive at $500 plus tax right up to November 30. And finally, The Founders Club is offering play up to October 31 for $1000 plus tax and cart. All are unbelievable values for the golfer who spends the full summer here.
